When I Was 12 and Playing World of Warcraft
When I was twelve, I spent countless hours in World of Warcraft. I loved dragons—of course—so my name back then was Dragon Lightning. It felt epic, like I was swinging a thunder-charged sword across Azeroth.
A New Character, a New Name
Later, I had to create a new character and pick a fresh name. Around the same time, I’d watched the Eragon movie and read the books. One name stuck with me: Arya. It sounded strong, elegant, and just a little bit mysterious. So I chose Arya for my new character.
The Name That Jumped Into Real Life
Here’s the funny part: a few years later, my brother started a watch company called Arya Copenhagen. We talked about it, and it turned out he chose Arya for the exact same reason—Eragon. Somehow, that name leapt from fantasy into real life, from game characters to a brand on someone’s wrist.
Why Names Matter (In Games and Beyond)
That journey—Dragon Lightning → Arya → Arya Copenhagen—reminds me how names carry feelings, memories, and identities across worlds. A great name doesn’t just label a character; it sets a mood and sparks a story. It can inspire businesses, books, RPG parties, or the next cool idea you’re chasing.
The Takeaway
Whether you’re rolling a new character, naming a protagonist, or brainstorming a brand, the right name can echo far beyond where it starts. Sometimes, a name from a fantasy tale becomes part of your real life, too.

I’ve been playing games like World of Warcraft, RuneScape, Dungeons & Dragons, and many others for over 20 years. With more than 10,000 hours spent gaming, I’ve gone through the process of choosing character names countless times—and I think we can all relate to spending half an hour (or more) just deciding on the right one.
I created this website to help people quickly find awesome character names for different games. My goal is to save you time and make the naming process easier and more fun.
